CONNECTICARE UPDATE
By: Rob Lynn
UPDATE FROM CONNECTICARE
Like other medical carriers, ConnectiCare just announced several updates that affect all plan sponsors and participants.
First of all diagnostic lab tests and related visits, whether to a doctor, urgent care facility or emergency room, will be paid 100% by the plan with no cost to participants. This even applies to all high deductible health plans (HDHP’s).
Second, all plan participants may use telemedicine and telehealth no cost. All co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance will be waived. Members can access the MDLIVE service from the ConnectiCare website for all purposes, even if unrelated to COVID-19. The goal is to provide remote access to healthcare so members may remain isolated, while also reducing the strain on the healthcare system as a whole.
For prescriptions, all plans will now allow for early refills and extending home delivery services for more drugs (although limitations still apply to opiates and specialty medicines. All members are reminded that 90 day supplies of most prescriptions may be obtained via mail order via Express Scripts. To enroll, call 877-866-5798 or have your doctor e-prescribe directly by having them call 888-327-9791.
Lastly, if you have any employees who currently are not enrolled in a healthcare plan and would now like to enroll, the Connecticut and New York healthcare exchanges have been reopened for a special enrollment period until April 2, 2020. Coverage would be effective April 1, 2020.
If you or your employees have any other questions regarding their healthcare coverage, please contact us.
